What Woods do you offer?
Our standard woods are Knotty Pine, Select Pine, Knotty Alder, Select
Alder, Wormy Maple, Spanish Cedar, African Mahogany, and Red Oak. We
have also worked in Cherry, Black Walnut, Genuine Mahogany, Clear Vertical
Grain (CVG) Fir, White Oak, and Select Soft Maple by custom order. We
will consider requests for other woods depending on current market conditions
and availability as well as suitability for door construction.

Do you build Customs Designs and Sizes?
Absolutely Yes! Many of the designs in our current product line evolved
from custom revisions of prior door designs or were inspired by requests
from clients for custom reproductions. We often work with Architects,
builders, designers and homeowners to create unique designs and sizes.
We have built doors of every reasonable size you could imagine. And,
with the individual selection of hand tooled Textures and Finishes,
even standard doors from our product line are, in effect, custom made
to the order and are often "One of a Kind".

Are Custom Designs and Sizes much more expensive?
Since each Spanish Pueblo door is custom made to the order anyway, our
custom designs and sizes are not dramatically different in price from
our standard sized doors. All door quotes are based on our overall material
and labor considerations. Doors that are oversized or thicker than standard
are priced with percentage mark ups that are generally proportional
to the price of the same door in a standard size. Oversized and non
standard doors are our specialty, and we will be happy to quote doors
of any reasonable size by request.

Do you stock your doors for immediate delivery?
No. Each door order is custom made to the specifications of the order.
Our extensive selection of woods, door designs, textures, and finishes
as well as the numerous details of typical orders such as door quantities,
door sizes and pre-hanging specifications makes warehousing of our doors
impractical. Since each order is custom made to specifications it is
necessary to order ahead.

How long does it take to get an order? What is the typical
lead time?
Production and lead times may vary with the complexity of the order
and may be affected by seasonal changes in backlog. It is important
to discuss lead times with our sales staff when placing your order.
We will do everything we can to give our customers accurate lead times
and deliver orders in a timely manner. Our lead times are typically
8-10 weeks from deposit. In order to meet productions schedules it
is extremely important that we have ALL DETAILS of the order confirmed
at the time the order is placed.
Return to top of page.
What is the start date? How long does it take once an
order is in production?
The start date is the date when an order goes into design and begins
the actual production stages. We have numerous jobs in various stages
of production at any given time. All details of an order must be confirmed
before doors go into production. Most jobs go through production from
start to finish in approx. 3-4 weeks, depending on the size and complexity
or the order.

Do you prehang doors?
Yes, we typically supply prehung units with jamb and hinges included
for both Interior and Exterior applications. We will prehang your Spanish
Pueblo Door in standard as well as custom size jambs to any reasonable
specifications provided. Exterior Units include weather stripping and
thresholds. We also specialize in prehung Arched Top units for both
interior and exterior applications as well as Custom Designed Entry
Units with sidelites and transoms.
Do you provide Rough Openings?
Yes, we will provide the required rough openings for all custom Units
by request. You can also refer to the rough opening chart under prehanging
in this website for general guidelines. Additionally, if you specify
an existing rough opening we will size your door and jamb units to fit
into those existing openings. We do require a confirmed rough opening
on all Custom Entry Units both Square Top and Arched Top to insure a
fit at final installation.

Do you install doors locally?
No, we do not install doors locally. We are manufacturers and not sub-contractors;
therefore it will be necessary to hire a skilled carpenter to install
your door or prehung unit. Often, the carpenter who installs your door
will also install the hardware at the same time.
Return to top of page.
Do you sell or install hardware?
No. Spanish Pueblo Doors does not offer a line of hardware at this time.
Our specialty and focus is on handcrafting Custom Doors rather than
on hardware. We do provide the hinges, flush bolts and catches necessary
for prehung units and work closely with the local hardware suppliers
for bore specs in order to pre-bore your door. We will be happy to provide
a list of the local hardware suppliers on request. We do not install
hardware even if it is provided by the customer. Pre-installed hardware
is easily subject to damage on shipping and often requires adjustment
after door the unit is installed into the rough opening. It is preferable
to have a skilled finish carpenter install the hardware on the site.

Do you sell your doors through Distributors?
No, we do not sell through a distribution network at this time. We have
sold and shipped our doors directly to customers in nearly all 50 states.
By selling directly to our customers and "eliminating the middle
man" we are able to provide our handmade doors at very competitive
prices without the layers of price markups that are inherent in typical
distributor sales. By selling directly we also are able to assure that
the many unique details of each job are accurately considered.
Return to top of page.
Do you sell directly to Contractors? Are there Contractor
discounts?
Yes, we do sell directly to Contractors, Architects, and Designers.
We have only one wholesale pricelist in our "factory direct"
pricing system.
Return to top of page.
Do you have a pricelist available? How can I get a
quote for your doors?
Yes, we do publish a pricelist for our standard doors and prehanging
which is available by request. However, since our doors are offered
with numerous variations in woods, textures, and finishes as well as
size and prehanging specifications, the pricelist is very extensive
and generally difficult for the uninitiated to use accurately. We prefer
to calculate our current prices for you and will be happy to quote prices
for our customers when we have all the necessary information. Simple
phone or fax in your quote requests and we will prepare an accurate
quote for you based on your particular specifications. Our prices are
subject to change depending on evolving changes in our costs, etc. but
generally, we will honor prices for 90 days from the date of the quote.
Return to top of page.
Can I get a quote for both Exterior and Interior Doors?
Are there any quantity discounts?
Yes, we will be happy to quote complete "house packages" for
both exterior and interior doors. We do require all pertinent specifications
in order to produce an accurate quote. We do not have quantity discounts
per se, since most projects have numerous variations in sizes, designs
and specifications. However, our sales and estimating staff does consider
the economy of scale on larger quotes that have quantities of the same
specifications, and that will be reflected on those types of estimates.
Our prices are generally very competitive for truly custom made doors
of any quantity.
Return to top of page.
Do you make Gates?
Yes. Gates are simply custom sized doors in an open wall application.
Most of our standard door patterns can be custom designed to the special
requirements of gates and it is common to have the gate design reflect
to Entry Door design. Our solid wood gates are not warranted due to
the extreme exposure to the elements and must be regularly maintained
in order to stand up to many years of exposure.

Do you have a catalog available?
Yes. We have a color catalog that we will mail by request and which
is also available online in this website. The catalog features more
than 100 door styles in our standard product line as well as numerous
installations.

Where can I see your doors?
With a history spanning 5 decades, our doors can be found in nearly
all 50 states and several foreign countries. We do not at this time,
however, have established showrooms other than our home showroom here
in Santa Fe, New Mexico. We plan to expand to have showrooms in new
locations in the future. Most of the photographs featured in our new
catalog and our revised website are in high resolution digital form
so that they are as accurate as possible. We hope that the close up
shots in this website will also give our non-local customers a sense
of the details of our workmanship.

Can doors be quoted and ordered online?
No, because of the custom designed specifications of each order, we
do not at this time have online quotation or online ordering.

Do you deliver and ship your doors?
Yes, we have delivered or shipped our doors to nearly all 50 states
as well as several foreign countries. The best method of delivery or
shipping will depend on the size of the order and the destination. We
regularly deliver orders in New Mexico and nearby states on our company
trucks depending on the size of the orders and the logistics of combining
shipments to similar locations. We also ship larger orders to out of
state customers "blanket wrapped" on North American Van Lines
and will crate smaller orders for shipment on common carriers such as
Federal Express Ground. Our sales staff will assist you in discussing
the variety of shipping options to determine the most effective method
of delivery for your order, depending on the size of the order and the
destination.
Return to top of page.
How much does the freight or delivery cost?
The cost to deliver or ship an order varies depends on the size of the
order, the destination and the selected method of delivery. Our sales
staff will make every effort to find the best method and give you an
estimate based on your individual job considerations. We can give a
very accurate quote for orders delivered by SPD trucks in New Mexico
and nearby states. However, due to the current changes in fuel costs
and adjustments in charges by shipping companies, we can only give a
rough estimate for freight charges. All of our commercial discounts
for freight with the carriers are passed on to our customers; however,
the final freight bill will be determined solely by the shipping company.

Do Spanish Pueblo Doors come with a Warranty?
Yes, Spanish Pueblo Doors guarantees our work to be free from defects
in materials and workmanship for one year, and to meet or exceed
the standards for door manufacturing set forth by the National Woodwork
Manufacturers Association. Proper finishing, handling, maintenance,
and protection from direct exposure to the elements are specifically
made conditions of this guarantee. Naturally occurring variations
in grain, color, and texture, as well as random size and location
of knots in all knotty woods are considered a part of the door's
character and are not considered defects. A complete warranty is
available by request and online in this website.
What information is needed to get a price quote?
When a customer requests a price quotation, it is extremely helpful
to have all the specifications ready so that we can give you a complete
and accurate quote. A detailed written quote will then be provided by
mail, fax or may be picked up by customers here in Santa Fe. The typical
information needed is as follows:
1) Door style number or style name. In the case of a custom
design we will need a drawing or photograph of the design we are quoting.
2) Door Size: Width x Height x Thickness
3) Wood type: Knotty Pine, vs. Select Alder, etc.
4) Texture: Smooth Sanded vs. Antique Distressed, etc.
5) Finish: Is the door going to be pre-finished by Spanish
Pueblo Doors or is it quoted unfinished? If the order is pre-finished
what is the finish color.
6) Prehanging: Is the order going to be pre-hung or shipped
as a slab only?
7) Jamb Size: What is the jamb width required for the application?
Typical sizes are 3-1/2" to 4-5/8" for interior doors and
5-1/2" to 6-5/8" for Exterior doors, etc.
8) Hinge finish: Since we provide the Hinges to match your
hardware, what finish are the hardware and matching hinges going to
be. For example - Black, Antique Nickel, Oil Rubbed Bronze, etc.
9) Square Top or Arched Top Jamb?
10) Bore: Is the order going to be pre-bored or shipped without
bore? If SPD is going to pre-bore the order what type of bore will
be required, ie. standard size hole bores or custom and mortise type
bores.
11) Custom Options: are there any custom options required such
as adding a Postigo door and grill, wrought iron clavos, wood pegs,
custom glass, etc.
Return to top of page.
How do you place an order?
1) Request a written quote based on the job specifications.
2) Spanish Pueblo Doors will prepare and send a numbered, written
quote for the job listing individual doors and specifications for
each door as well as a job total amount.
3) Acceptance: The customer provides any missing information and signs
a copy of the quote and sends it back to SPD with 50% deposit of the
total.
4) Drawings: Spanish Pueblo Doors will provide shop line drawings
to scale when necessary. Drawings are generally only provided for
custom door designs or sizes and for Custom Entry Units. Standard
designs as shown in our catalog and website generally do not require
shop drawings. When shop drawings are required, the customer will
sign acceptance of the design and return a signed copy to SPD.
5) Change Orders: Any changes in the accepted job order such as swing
direction, door and jamb sizes, texture, finish, rough openings, etc.
must be made in writing and sent to SPD by mail or fax. Due to the
custom nature of all orders, it is extremely important that all changes
be forwarded before the order goes into production.
6) Start Date and Production: At the "start date", the job
will go into actual production which is typically 4-5 weeks before
completion. Any changes made to an order after the start date may
require additional charges as necessary to affect those changes.
7) Completion: Customers typically call to check on the status of
their orders. Regardless, SPD will notify all customers when the order
is completed and will mail a final invoice for any balance due. Final
delivery or shipping details will be confirmed upon completion.
8) Shipping or Delivery: Spanish Pueblo Doors will deliver or ship
the order as determined. Most orders are sent with the balance prepaid
or COD. Delivery charges if delivered by SPD are included in the job
invoice and Freight charges via common carrier are typically freight
collect.
