GENERAL PREHANGING INFORMATION

Door Slab or Prehung Unit: Spanish Pueblo Doors may be ordered as a door slab without jamb, or Prehung in a matching wood jamb. Ordering a door slab is typical for retrofit applications in which a skilled door installer will fit the new door into an existing jamb at the job site. Most doors for new construction are ordered Prehung into a matching wood jamb with the entire hinged unit installed into the rough opening at the job site. When ordering a prehung unit it is necessary to confirm the specifications for each prehung unit.

Interior Doors with Solid Rabbeted Jambs: Spanish Pueblo interior doors are typically prehung in solid wood rabbeted jambs that are 1-1/4” thick with a ½” rabbet for the door. The solid rabbeted jamb offers superior stability and strength over interior jambs with applied stop. All 1-3/4” Interior doors are hung on commercial weight 4”x 4” square corner hinges in the designated hinge finish. Interior doors that are designated at 2-1/4” thickness are hung with 4-1/2” x 4-1/2” hinges and doors that are designated at 1-3/8” thickness are hung with 3-1/2” x 3-1/2” hinges.

Exterior Doors with Weatherstripping Package: Exterior doors typically include a standard weatherstripping system which includes: Q-Lon type compression weatherstrip installed into a saw kerf in the jamb, an adjustable threshold of anodized bronze aluminum with adjustable oak strip and oak facing on the interior edge, and a door bottom weatherstrip attached to the bottom of the door. The prehung unit is shipped with a 1/8” space between the weatherstrip and the threshold. Adjusting screws in the threshold allow for final exact fitting to the door bottom after the door is installed in the opening. Threshold extensions are available for a variety of over sized jamb widths. All 1-3/4” Exterior doors are hung on commercial weight 4”x 4” square corner hinges in the designated hinge finish Exterior doors that are designated at 2-1/4” thickness are hung with 4-1/2” x 4-1/2” hinges. Ball bearing hinges, non-removable pin hinges, and custom size hinges may be specified where applicable.

Optional Solid Oak Tresholds are available by custom order for applications where an adjustable aluminum threshold is not desired such as an interior wine cellar door. Solid oak thresholds are shipped loose and must be site installed for exact fit since they are not adjustable.

Hinge Finishes: Prehung units are hung with the hinges in the hinge finish specified by each order which typically matches the finish of the door hardware. Many commercial hinge finishes are available and custom hinges may be specified, However, most of our door orders are shipped with one of the standard current finishes ie. Satin Brass, Black, Antique Nickel, Oil Rubbed Bronze, and Satin Nickel.
